Flowers of Life

I've always liked flowers, as they are some of the most colorful things in nature. I learned that flowers also have certain secret meanings in culture, and I've always liked secret codes. So when I was tasked to make a piece of art for my past self, I wanted to send her a secret message hidden within the beauty life gives us.

The Full Poster

This is the full piece. Each flower represents an attribute that I would want for my past self (and honestly, future self). I made both a poster design with vector are that I made, and a sticker sheet.

02

The Hibiscus

Hibiscus are my favorite flower, as they remind me of playing in my Nana's yard in the summer as a child. It makes sense then that they represent beauty and playfulness.

The Gladiolus

The Gladiolus represents strength, and is associated with Roman gladiators. Life is full of battles, I've had my share, and will have a lot more. But, I hope to keep my inner strength.

04

The Iris

The Iris represents admirable attributes such as faith and wisdom. These attributes I hope to carry with me through life. The Iris is also the flower of May, which is my birth month.

The Daisy

The daisy is a plain flower. They seem to pop of in a variety of places. Yet, they represent something profound: New beginnings. Much like the many battles there are in life, there are many great new beginnings.

The Marigold

The Marigold is small but bright and exciting. Much like what it represents: joy and creativity.
